1 Month to go!!

USA! USA! USA!

I couldn't think of a better way to spend my day off, not by searching for Men's Halfpipe tickets or anxiously awaiting my best friend's wedding this weekend, but by calling to mind that WE HAVE 1 MONTH UNTIL THE OLYMPICS!!

As I've mentioned before, this is my first, I want to share a story of why I love the winter Olympics and precisely how my mind works, even as a child.

I remember being young, definitely in the 80s, and in my family's living room with both parents and my sister, Amanda, watching lone racers on sleds speeding down the mountain paths. At the time I didn't know the name for the race but I thought of them as sledders on steroids. I loved sledding, the faster the better! They were on tiny sleds with their feet out in front and plunging down a track so fast they were almost a blur. I watched on with awe as the racers finished their run, each faster than their predecessor.

I wanted to be them!

I remember asking, "Daddy, what's this race?"

My father replied, "the Luge."

"I want to be a loser."

My father's face broke in to a grin barely able to hold his composure. "You want to be a loser? I think you mean luger."

"Yes. Luger."

Now I'm not sure how your family does things but when my family likes something, we make fun of it. I don't know if my dad still remembers that conversation but that joke is always funny. I felt one with the Luge after pronouncing I wanted to be "a loser" and hope to catch a glimpse in South Korea.

Catch up with you soon!
